AFS Maine Area Team
AFS offers U.S. students more than 128 programs in more than 50
countries. Current high school students can choose to go abroad with AFS
for a year, semester, or a summer. AFS also offers gap year, community
service and university study programs which are designed for recent high
school graduates and others who are over 18 years of age.

As a member of a family, school and community, you'll experience what it
means to live, study and really feel at home in a different country and
culture. You'll share in your host family's daily life, study your host country's
history and culture, and take part in activities as you make new friends,
learn a new language, and get more out of life than you ever imagined!

What country and culture are you interested in exploring? Explore the

The Way Life Should Be
Going Abroad with AFS is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Mainers Abroad
Step into a wider world than you've ever imagined—new people, new
perspectives, and new cultures. Explore daily life in another country by living
not as a tourist, but with your host family. You'll learn to speak the
language, become a member of the community, and make lasting
friendships. When you return home, it will be with a greater understanding
of yourself, the world, and your place in it.
